Philanthropy

Anthony For Men is a unique company featuring personal care products that primarily focus on the needs of men. Because of this focus a percentage of all Anthony For Men proceeds is donated to not-for-profit public charities dedicated to increasing awareness and to the ultimate elimination of Prostate Cancer as a health risk for men and their families.

This support will be highlighted on all Anthony For Men packaging with the fight against Prostate Cancer’s signature blue ribbon featured on every product.

Prostate Cancer Facts

  • One in six men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in America.
  • Prostate Cancer is the second most common non-skin cancer in America, with a new case diagnosed every three minutes.
  • Every day, 101 men lose their lives to this disease.
  • In the last decade alone, 350,000 men have died of prostate cancer. About an equal number of deaths were caused by Breast Cancer and this number represents more than three times the number of deaths from AIDS).
  • Prostate Cancer is the third most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages and is the most common cause of death from cancer in men over 75 years old. Prostate Cancer is rarely found in men younger than 40 years of age. The incidence is greatest in black men over 60 years old increased incidence is also associated with farmers, tire workers, painters, and men exposed to cadmium. The lowest incidence occurs in Japanese men and vegetarians.
  • Support for Prostate Cancer research lags far behind funding for other diseases. Breast Cancer and AIDS advocates have successfully led the way in creating the awareness that convinced our government to appropriate nearly $3 billion for Breast Cancer research, and more than $10 billion for AIDS research since 1993-both worthwhile investments. In that same period, approximately $800 million has been invested to find a cure for Prostate Cancer. We don’t propose takings funds from other worthwhile causes but advocate helping to increasing the total to support important Prostate Cancer research.
  • No preventative measures are known. Adopting a vegetarian, low fat diet or one that mimics the traditional Japanese diet may lower risk. Early identification is now possible by YEARLY screening for men over 40 years of age through digital rectal examination and the PSA blood test. Additionally, a transrectal prostate ultrasound and biopsy may be performed to evaluate suspicious areas.
  • Each year in September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Week takes place. Several urology clinics across the country hold free Prostate Cancer screening clinics, which provide educational materials as well as free rectal exams and PSA blood testing. Learn more about Prostate Cancer awareness week at www.pcaw.com .
  • Anthony For Men will support charities that are dedicated to the elimination of Prostate Cancer. Anthony For Men has a special commitment to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To find out more please visit www.mskcc.org
